Ruby - Dog photography in northampton

Early November, I was contacted by Ruby’s owner, as he wanted to get a series of portraits for his social media of his lovely French Bulldog. Only potential hitch, I live in Worcestershire and he was in Northamptonshire, but that's no problem I love to travel to different locations for portrait sessions.

We arranged to meet at Harlestone Firs, Northampton. It was a cold, but bright November morning just after sunrise. There was a touch of frost, and the sun peaking through the trees created some gorgeous sun-lit backdrops.

About Ruby’s Dog Photography Session

Ruby was only a young dog, and had never been left off the lead in a public place before. Harlestone Firs, is a sizeable woodland, which is surrounded by fast, heavy traffic roads. So for safety reasons, we decided to keep Ruby on her lead (in fact would you believe her collar was bright pink!)

Harlestone Firs is one of my favourite locations for dog portrait sessions, wide open woodland tracks and narrow tracks, ferns and fir trees, gives us multiple options for capturing engaging portraits for both large dogs and small dogs. Little Ruby held attention wherever we placed her, she ended her session being a solid model. Even conquering the ‘on a stump’ pose, which some dogs find at the start a little confusing.

Here are a few of her portraits:

After the Dog Photography Session:

After the session, I returned to the office to narrow them down to the final gallery of images, which were them presented in an online gallery to my client. Ruby’s owner purchased all portraits as low-res digital files using my Social Media Package.
