The Thatcher pack - Dog Photography in Worcestershire

In May, the highlighted breed was the Dachshund!

Renowned for their lively personality and distinctive appearance, Dachshunds are a cherished choice among dog lovers. Their elongated bodies and short legs give them a unique charm that wins the affection of many. Dachshunds are valued for their loyalty and loving nature, making them fantastic companions for both individuals and families. They are also highly intelligent and trainable, although their independent nature can sometimes be evident.

With their inquisitive and spirited characters, Dachshunds spread joy and merriment wherever they go. Whether playing fetch or snuggling up on the couch, Dachshunds never fail to bring comfort and delight to those around them.

The winner was Loofah, the wire-haired dachshund and her two best friends; Bree & Mogul

About Loofah, Bree & Mogul’s Dog Photography Session

We met up at Hartlebury Common on a beautiful summer evening, just a couple of hours before sunset (to get the best natural light). We spent the next two hours exploring the common and stopping periodically to capture some stunning portraits of the three dogs, individually and all together.

All three dogs have a background in agility and competitive training. Bree and Mogul, the older two, introduced Loofah to this world. Witnessing the dedication and focus these dogs have towards Natalie and her daughter, with unwavering attention in their eyes, is truly inspiring. It exemplifies why dogs are such loyal companions to us.The trust the dogs had in their owners was evident when we placed the two smaller dogs on a narrow log we found along a trail. Curiously, I asked what we thought Bree would do in this situation. We took a chance, agreeing to move on if she seemed uneasy. Unsurprisingly, Bree trusted her owners and confidently climbed onto the log, striking a pose like a true champion.

Bree and Mogul were amazing to work with, but little Loofah was the star that brought us all together. A little 9 month old wirehaired dachshund who was so well behaved I kept forgetting how young she was; at all times her eyes were so expressive you could just imagine what she was thinking. She was up for anything and everything we asked of her, always trying to keep up with the ‘big kids’; definitely showing the dachshund independent spirit.

Hartlebury Common is a fantastic spot for a photoshoot. Within a compact area, you can explore various habitats providing a diverse selection of images to select from, including heather, woodland, dirt tracks, and sandy paths. We all had a fun time getting photos in all that the common had to offer.

Here are a few of their portraits:

After the session, I took the images back to the office to select the final ones for the gallery. These were later showcased to Natalie, the owner of Loofahs, and her daughters. They were so impressed with all the photos that they had a hard time choosing. Eventually, they opted for the full-resolution package, which included a lovely folio box with ten of their favorite images in mounted prints.
